Discussion on "The relevance of ancillary copyrights for the European Media Diversity"  20/05/2015 by Tom Hirche

The German collecting society VG Media will have a panel discussion on "The relevance of ancillary copyrights for the European Media Diversity" on 17th June, 2015 at 11.30 a.m. Host will be the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the EU in Brussels. The VG Media exercises copyrights and ancillary copyrights for almost all German broadcasters and over 200 digital products of German newspaper and magazine publishers.

Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, is inquired to give a key note but he has not confirmed yet.

The panel will consist of:
Sabine Verheyen, MEP, Coordinator of the EPP group in the Committee on Culture and Education, European Parliament
Julia Reda, MEP, rapporteur for the implementation of the EUCopyright Directive
Christoph Keese, Executive Vice President Axel Springer SE
Dr. Matthias Kirschenhofer, General Counsel Constantin Medien AG
David Wood, Legal Counsel ICOMP

We hope to see plenty opponents of an ancillary copyright for press publishers. With Christoph Keese, the "father" of this law in Germany, that failed exactly as everyone predicted, will be there. So we need every voice to speak out against any equal plans on EU level.
